What is a LCA study and why did we conduct such a study?
LCA, or Life Cycle Assessment, measures the environmental impact of a product from beginning to end. These insights help us implement targeted improvements, such as optimizing packaging and sourcing ingredients closer to home for greater sustainability.
Our environmental Impact
Did you know that two pieces of First Energy Gum contain as much caffeine as a cup of coffee or an energy drink? While analyzing the research results, we discovered that the carbon footprint of 2 First Energy Gums (80 mg of caffeine) is lower than that of a cup of coffee (80 mg of caffeine) and much lower than that of an energy drink (80 mg of caffeine).

Did you know that two pieces of First Energy Gum contain as much caffeine as a cup of coffee or an energy drink? But there's more! We conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on our gum to understand its carbon footprint. While analyzing the data, we discovered that the carbon footprint of 2 First Energy Gums (80 mg of caffeine) is lower than that of a cup of coffee (80 mg of caffeine) and much lower than that of an energy drink (80 mg of caffeine).

Coffee production and the use of cups contribute significantly to CO2 emissions due to their extensive logistics route. Energy drinks have a high CO2 impact due to the energy-intensive production of aluminum cans.
This LCA (cradle-to-gate) by Stripe Blue (cradle-to-gate) is based on the best available information but includes assumptions and limitations. The results indicate potential environmental impacts and are indicative, not definitive, as changes in assumptions or data could alter outcomes.

1 pallet First contains as much energy as over 10 pallets of energy drinks.
Transporting First Energy Gum is more efficient, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint than energy drinks. By choosing First Energy Gum, consumers can reduce their personal carbon footprint compared to consuming energy drinks.
Compensation & education
So we are fully committed to reducing our footprint. But, as much as we want to, we also have to be realistic. Some things we cannot (yet) completely reduce to zero. Therefore, we go a step further and look for ways to not only reduce our impact, but also actively offset it. We proudly support various projects and initiatives that contribute to a better, cleaner and more social world.
Supporter of CleanHub
We offset the plastic we use for our product by supporting CleanHub. This organization helps reduce the plastic problem, especially in Asia. For every kilo of plastic we use, we donate one euro to CleanHub, which uses it to collect one kilo of plastic from nature.
Supporter of Tree by Tree
In addition to offsetting our plastic use, we also offset our entire CO2 emissions. This includes production, but also, for example, the travel behavior of our staff. We offset the CO2 emissions we generate by planting trees in cooperation with TreeByTree.
